original project poster (2013)
In this project I make images that help the person to visualize a goal or a wish she wants to fulfil. I make the first sketches while I hear the participant. The project happens in a round table, so that the person can sit next to me and watch the drawings being made. I propose a final sketch, which is then eventually re-made according to the person’s feedback. The image is made on 30 x 21 cm paper, with indian ink and watercolour. Once the final image is ready, the drawing is hers. As in many images for people projects, the participants define the price within a sliding scale. The sliding scale is designed in such a way that access to the project is as least dependent as possible from economical privilege.
In 2015, I did a version of this project at Salmon Youth Centre, in London. In that context, drawings were freely given to the young people and the question was about what they really want to be or experiment.
All the descriptions I present are summaries I did of the person’s words and of the interaction I had with her/him.

Wish of being amidst the strength, greenness and aliveness of nature, with the sea down there.
The person said I knew what it was about, as we both grew up in Madeira Island.

Desire to let constraints and old habits go, to let old clothes go. Desire to be herself and to fully express herself, like she feels when she dances or when she is close to nature.
Desire to sink in, to deepen. On a quick look, one could say it has to do with the wish to become a mother. It is related to that, but it is deeper and broader than that. It’s about settling, about landing on the inside.
Young visual artist’s wish to balance three dimensions in her life: the connection to family (that lives in the Azores Islands); work (wants to establish a studio to keep her artistic practice); social life (expand the positive relationships existing with the people around her).
Wish to practice boxing. Asked to colour the drawing by herself.
Wish of working in the film industry.
Wish of becoming a child psychiatrist, to help keep kids away from mental institutions.
Asked to be represented interpreting a child’s drawing.
