relational projects
Projects that stem from long-standing research into the historical presence of painting and drawing in people's daily lives. From projects in Brazil based on the Catholic Miracle Scratchers (Obrigado project, paintings for giving thanks) to the creation of individual oracular card decks based on each person's life during long interviews (Oráculo project), various projects have been born since 2012. Some of them also have a sound/performance dimension, but in all of them the fundamental centre is the human relationship.
Sung Portraits
Sung Portraits is a relational project of sung paintings that starts with a conversation with an individual, during which a painting (or more) is made in a way that echoes their soul. In the final phase, after the conversation and with the painting finally revealed, I create a unique song in the moment based on that painting and that person.
In this song, the language of contemporary music machines meets some ancient sound practices. There's always a microphone nearby in case she want to intervene in her own song. When the person listens to her music, visual manipulations of the painting are projected in the same room in VJ. These manipulations simultaneously multiply several potentials in the image and create an immersive environment where she can receive a mirror of her existence.

Both the painting and the recording of the song are for the interviewee to take home. The song can be performed in Portuguese, Spanish and English.
When in the context of an event or institution, I culminate the private conversation and painting sessions with a public presentation where I sing the images to the individuals but already in the presence of the public.
